my childhood bedroom was...

ORANGE...

...and a very special place.  After my single mom saved her money to buy a duplex in the expensive suburbs of Washington D.C., the room I shared with one of my sisters was my little corner to call my own.  I had lived in rental apartments that couldn't be painted so the first thing I did was paint the room (myself with my older sister).  It was tan.  The rug was orange shag.  Yep, orange shag. My comforter was fuzzy tan on one side and orange floral on the other.  It was warm. I remember our old-fashioned record player (my kids would get a good laugh out of that one).  They are still too young to appreciate anything vintage...it was the mid 1970s...

Here's some other images that remind me of my orange bedroom...here's the rug...oh memories, memories...

I might have had this blanket, too, not sure...

Comforter and pillow case, very similar...

Would have loved to cover one wall with this paper...

This is a version of the look in red, except I didn't have the custom headboard to match...

The one item I wished for back then was a cool lighting fixture...this one would have been great...

but it probably would have looked more like this...

I also wanted to be either of these two people...Laurie from the Partridge Family...

or Dorothy Hamill, I even had the haircut and the white leather skates...

Oh wow, my sister will have a good walk down memory lane...hope you guys enjoyed this...tomorrow visit  Joanna's blog 2 days in the rain and check out her childhood bedroom...
