modern country

Happy Monday!  Country style interiors have always been a favorite of mine, starting in the 80s with Laura Ashley, Ralph Lauren & Liberty of London (with a little Conran's thrown in) then giving way in the 90s to the white & pastels of trendsetter Rachel Ashwell and her Shabby Chic line, the vintage-inspired movement and the unforgettable distressed furniture craze with the pattern mix overstuffed sofas and the barn-wood farm tables. Lots of these elements will continue to live on in our spaces (my furniture is of the no-pledge, only-damp-cloth variety), but now there is something more exciting on the horizon and what I call Modern Country time.  Sometimes this term frightens my die-hard clients who can't do modern, but rest easy because the modernity is in the color saturation, the awesome industrial elements and the furniture silhouettes, not a complete departure to contemporary interiors...
