olga guanabara

Another Brooklyn gem, this company is all about the handmade, return of the craft & one-of-a-kinds.  Olga is actually a dog, the gorgeous chocolate lab that you see in the photos, and then there’s the humans behind the operation, Brazilian-born Richard and Renato.

Some of their beautifully hand-crafted goods…

Olga Guanabara welcomes custom work…you can also check out their blog here…i’m seriously drooling over all of these amazing pieces, the jewelry especially.  i’m back from my little beach get-away with my girlfriends and our sons and i’ve had 3 client appointments and several meetings…not complaining since it’s good to be busy except that i’m trying to get my 14 yo son packed and off to overnight camp :) …enjoy your thursday, xocc ♥

I gotta have…special guest post edition by design shuffle

Welcome back to me after a crazy week full of graduations and celebrations.  Today I am pleased to introduce Susi from the awesome Design Shuffle and also welcome YOU to StonehouseLove’s very first guest…

Hi all! I’m Susi and I write as a guest blogger for DesignShuffle.com, a fabulous social media site that promotes interior designers from around the world and their fabulous interior design ideas. My writing focuses on things I’m passionate about: interior design, home furnishings, gardening and art. I get to look at gorgeous things all day and write about them. My dream job! I found StonehouseLove blog and adore it.

I am delighted to be a part of StonehouseLove’s ‘I gotta have’ series today. These are the things I’m loving this week. It’s an eclectic mix between an entire store in Provincetown, MA and old school oil lanterns with a few home decorating ideas thrown in. I hope you enjoy it!

Terrain (via)

To say that I love Anthropologie would be an understatement. Add their brand, Terrain at Skyler’s, to the mix and I may love them even more. Their products focus on the garden, outdoors and garden-inspired designs, Terrain is full of gorgeous products for inside and out. Love this cabinet, would fill it with curiosities and books to create my own cabinet of curiosities.

Terrain (via)

Yes, I’ll admit I still love s’mores. But the whole idea of using a real stick, I don’t love. Enter these cast iron twig skewers. You could even use them for vegetables, if you wanted.

Anthropologie (via)

Speaking of Anthropologie again, I’m loving this spiny lobster rug. Just can’t decide where to put it. Bedroom? Living room? Sunporch? Decisions, decisions.

Garret Wade (via)

German made hurricane oil lamps. Perfect for lining a stone wall or a table for outdoor feast. Will burn for 20 hours and are virtually impossible to blow out. High functioning style I gotta have it!

Target (via)

John Derian. Cutlery appetizer plates. Melamine. On sale. Gotta have them… now! Before they are all gone!

The Cutting Edge of Ordinary (via)

Not sure how I decided to include strawberry rhubarb crisp on the list of gotta haves, but once I started thinking about it, well, I couldn’t stop. Local (Boston) strawberries and rhubarb just happen to come into season together. I’ll definitely be making some soon. My fave recipe comes from Ezra Pound Cake (love the name).

Hammocks & High Tea (via)

Adore Hammocks & High Tea for their name alone. Then I discovered their scented drawer liners, in fantastic scents and patterns. Vetiver and mandarin, rose and jasmine are both favorites, but then tried and true lavender is what we chose to line the shelves of our linen closet to give our linens that ‘dried in the Provence sun’ fresh scent.

Wiley Valentine (via)

From the amazing Provincetown, MA store, Yates and Kennedy, I am quite fond of the silhouette of the woman with the bird’s nest on her head. I love the whole Victorian aesthetic of the shop. It will inundate you with interior design ideas.

This post comes courtesy of Design Shuffle, where you can find top tier interior designs from around the world and from New York interior designers, Los Angeles interior designers, and more, check out the latest at Design Shuffle.

Thank you, Susi for sharing your great finds on ‘i gotta have’ on this lovely Friday…have a great weekend…xocc ♥

“don’t trash the runner…”

“…take your shoes off ” I’ve been yelling this phrase from my bedroom, my office, my kitchen, family room & laundry room to the front hall, oh, for about 18 years. My oldest son (we have 4) is 18 and he’s graduating from high school tonight and going off to Penn State in the fall.  I have such mixed emotions. I take full blame and responsibility for not picking a darker color for our staircase runner but is it really that hard to remember to take your shoes off before stepping on it? This is about my 18 year old so I’m not going to get into my 14 year old and his muddy rain boots (literally leaves a size 9 muddy footprint on each and every step and then looks at me like “what’s the problem, relax, mom”)…

Ok, seriously…the runner has survived and in all honesty, who cares, right?  I’m so proud of the industrious man Kevin has become, my sweet little boy who was so into spending all his time with mommy…the little boy who was so perceptive he would give me food for thought on a regular basis…the little boy who, at 13, started his own business, Rhythm Wax Co., selling skateboard wax to stores making us proud…my adorable son who went from 5 feet to 6 feet tall overnight…my brilliant son with the incredibly crafty sense of humor…and most importantly, my lovely son who cares and has true compassion for others.

The time flies by in a flash and before you know it, they are 18 and going away…and you realize you too are 18 years older, yikes!

I’ll be back on thursday; I have a luncheon to host and my younger son graduates from 8th grade tomorrow…xocc ♥
